Discussion
People are critical to the success of your company. If you and they feel useful, valued and can see how they have contributed then you have a great team. The danger is that everyone gets involved in the doing and no-one is looking at where the company is going.
"Don't talk to me, I don't have time" is a frequent and common response from people who are maxed out. Most of the time this is not actually a problem. Where this does become a concern is when this is a constant response and communication stops. People can quickly become disconnected from the company despite them being very busy.
Too involved in the detail is a challenge to the management team. Managers who either started the company or have a long history frequently over manage. The concern is that really these are the people who are leading the company into the future. If they don't do it who does?
"What plans?" means that the plot has been lost. Good intentions, lucky breaks and general hard work will deliver a level of success. However plans are necessary so that progress can be assessed. If plans are dropped then the company's 'rudder' is also dropped.
